So your individual figures might have a special ability tuned just for them.ДЄbilities are unlocked by having dice that match. Abilities are further limited to certain figures. Additionally, in the core game, there are a set of generic abilities that everyone has access to. There is a card per faction that indicates that faction-specific abilities are available. To start a turn, each side rolls 6 dice which will determine what special capabilities youвЂ™ll have this turn. The terrain in the core box I found excellent, tho unpainted. Magnets will make your life and future gameplay much happier. Pieces will be combined and recombined in many different ways due to the terrain deck. When you put your terrain together, a word to the wise, think about things in terms of modulability. The game is played on their supplied mat, itвЂ™s a 22вЂі x 30вЂі in size, well printed and fairly solid cardboard. Retail on the expansion terrain is $90 (USD). The Corpsewrack Mausoleum and Shattered Stormvault are two terrain expansions that are coming which will each have their own terrain deck. It will be available as a separate purchase at some future point in time. The starter set comes with the ruined city. This deck will vary depending on what set of terrain youвЂ™re playing with. The fourth deck is the terrain deck and determines how the terrain is laid out. They establish deployment, victory conditions and something called twist which gives a special rule for the game. Three of the decks are part of the battle plans that can be purchased separately. YouвЂ™ll never look up stats.ДЄfter you have your war band, youвЂ™ll draw a card from each of four decks. The stat cards are simple, easy to read and greatly enhance the game. speed and so on.ДЄ stat card is provided for each figure thatвЂ™s available to you. An average game is 1000 points and an individual figure ranges from ~200 points to just under a hundred depending on weapons, shields, health. Two are in the initial game box, the Iron Golems and Untamed Beasts. Your war band is a point costed force that is selected from one of the 15 different forces. It is somewhat akin to Kill Teamwhich is skirmish for the Warhammer 40K universe however the game is vastly different so donвЂ™t assume itвЂ™s just another Kill Team, itвЂ™s not.
